「パーティーで話しかける」の英会話 まぁまぁです 楽しんでる

人に会うときの英会話をご紹介いたします。

パーティーで出会った人と話します。

A: やぁ、どうですか？

B: えぇ、まぁまぁですよ、あなたの方はどうですか？

A: Hi, (How's it going)?

あいさつですね。

ほかにも、

How are you?
How are you doing?

B: Hello, (Not bad) thanks, how about you?

こたえにも、

I'm (fine), thank you

fine のところには、

good、 pretty good、 great、 fantastic、 excellent、

など、ポピュラーですね。

ただ、「まぁまぁ」の訳で "so so" は、このシーンでは、つかわれませんね。

かわりに

"not bad", "not too bad", "ok" or "alright".

などですね。

A: いいですよ、ありがとう。
いいパーティーですね。

B: えぇ！素敵ですね！

A: Pretty good, thanks.
(Great party), isn't it?

英語のテキストでは、ここでいきなり「名乗る」ことがありますが、、、

じっさいは、もう少し様子を見てみましょう。

No problem.

（名乗ります）

A: 、、、ところで、私、Linda と言います。

B: あ、私は Mary です。
よろしく。

A: ....by the way, I'm Linda.

ここで、ようやく名乗っていますね。

この表現もよく聞きますね。

I don't think we've met, My name's Toshi.
会ったことないと思うんですが、

名前が聞き取れなかったら、

I'm sorry, what was that?
ごめんなさい、何と？

B: Oh, I'm Mary.
Nice to meet you.

A: こちらこそ。
Mary は、どんな仕事してるの？

B: 看護師よ。

A: Good to meet you too.
What do you do (Mary)?

B: I'm a nurse.

B: 私もです。
