「求職ページを見て電話」英会話 見てみる メモッてくれない

会社の名前と番号をメモッてくれない

友達と求職ページを見ているのですが、いざ電話しようとすると、、、ビビッてしまいます。

A: この求人広告を見てみてよ。
良さそうじゃない？

B: そこに電話して聞いてみたらどうだい？

A: Hey, take a look at the help-wanted ads.
They sound good, don't they?

B: Why don't you give them a call and ask them?

take a look at

「ちょっと、見てみる」という感じですね。

take は、日常の動作にもよく使われますね。

take a nap 昼寝する

take a shower シャワーを浴びる

take a medicine 薬を飲む

take a bus バスで行く

take a break 休憩する

take a seat 座る

help-wanted ads

ad は、advertisement の短縮ですね。

求人には、

job offer、help wanted、job vacancy

などの単語を目にしますね。

A: でも、今は「hot job」のところを読むのに忙しいんだ。

B: 話をそらすなよ。
何か怖いの？

A: But I'm busy reading the hot jobs section right now.

B: Don't change the subject.
Are you afraid of anything?

I'm busy reading ...

reading は、現在分詞で、今の最中を表していますね。

読んでいる ＋ 忙しい ⇒ 読むのに忙しい

という感じになりますね。

不定詞でちょっと似ている表現に、
too ～ to ... がありますね。

I'm too busy to read ...

こちらは、

「読む」という行為を行うには、
忙し過ぎる ⇒ 忙しくて読めない

という感じになりますね。

Don't change the subject

「話題を変えないで、話をそらさないで」
の決まり文句ですね。

A: 分かったよ、
会社の名前と番号をメモッてくれないかな。

B: いいよ。
はいよ。

A: Alright,
can you take a note of the name and the number of the company please?

B: No problem.
Here you are.

take a note

これも、先ほどの 「take で、動作を選択する」
感じですね。

take a bath お風呂に入る

take a bite 食べる、一口噛む

take a vacation 休みを取る

take a picture 写真をとる

たくさんありますね。
