【 後で電話かけなおせるかい？ 】

電話の最中に、別の電話がかかってきました。

A: Bob、電話に出てくれない？
あなたの友達の Bill よ。

A: Bob, will you answer the phone?
It's your friend Bill.

answer the phone

answer は question に答えるだけではありませんね。

Answer my questions, please
質問に答える

Why don't you answer the letter?
手紙に返事する

He answered the telephone as soon as it rang
電話にでる

Could you answer the door, please?
玄関にでる

This will answer my requirements.
要求に合ってる、満たす

The police have found a man answering (to) that description.
人相書（特徴）と合致する男を見つけた

A: Jeff、後で電話かけなおせるかい？
今、別の電話で母と話してんだ。

A: Hey Jeff, can you call back later?
I'm talking to my mom on the other line now.

B: おっ、分かった。
１５分後くらいにかけなおすよ。

B: Oh, all right.
I'll call you back in about fifteen minutes.

A: いない間、僕に電話あった？

B: 友達の Bill が３０分位前にまた電話して来たわ。

A: Did anyone call for me while I was out?

B: Your friend Bill called about half an hour ago again.

～している間というときには、while が便利ですね。

漠然と、「しばらくの間」を指せるので、会話では、重宝します。
