「レストランに予約」英会話 何時で何名さま オードブル バイキング

レストランに関する英会話をご紹介いたします。

【 Martin's にお電話ありがとうございます 】

７時に３名でレストランに予約を入れます。

A: Martin's にお電話ありがとうございます。
Johnと申します。
いかがいたしましょう？

B: 今晩の予約をしたいのですが。

A: Thank you for calling Martin's.
This is John speaking.
How May I help you?

B: Hi, I'd like to make a reservation for this evening.

予約のことを英語で話すには、

make a reservation 予約する
have a reservation 予約している

make や have でオーケーですね。

reserve 「予約する」という動詞もありますね。

reserve a room 部屋を予約する
reserve a seat 席を予約する
reserve a ticket 切符を予約する
reserve a table テーブルを予約する

お店に電話をすると、

Thank you for calling 「お店の名前」.
This is 「担当者」 speaking.
How May I help you?

よく聞かれるパターンですね。

電話では、This is 「○○」と言いますね。

A: 何時で何名さまでしょうか？
B: ７時で、３名です。

A: What time and how many?
B: At seven, for three.

At seven, for three

人数を言う時は、for three, four など、数字だけですね。

後ろに「人」を表す、people や member などは特につかないですね。

日本人としては、何か物足りなさを感じます。

そして、慣れていないと、時間を言ってるのか人数を言ってるのか混乱しますね。

A: わかりました。
お名前をよろしいでしょうか？

B: もちろんです。
Ken Greenです。

A: All right.
May I have your name?

B: Sure.
It's Ken Green.

食事の英単語を少しご紹介します。

hors d'oeuvre

文字を見ても ？？？ ですが、
これは、「オードブル」ですね。

food (eg olives, sardines etc) served
before or at the beginning of a meal
in order to increase the appetite.

食欲をそそるための前菜

buffet

日本では「バイキング」の名前で呼ばれていますね。

（ビュッフェという呼び方もありますが、
私は、「バフェッ↑」という発音をよく聞きました。
発音要チェックですね）

a meal laid out on a table or sideboard
so that guests may serve themselves.
