【「階段から落ちて捻挫したんだ」時の英語表現】

ちょっと飲み過ぎ?階段から転んで、膝のところがビリビリで、出血も、、、

A: 何があったの?

B: 階段から落ちたんだ、そして捻挫したんだ。

A: What happened to you?

B: I fell down on the stairs and sprained my ankle.

ankle は足首ですね。

the (area around the) joint connecting the foot and leg.

She has broken her ankle.

じゃ手首は?

the (part of the arm at the) joint between hand and forearm.

I've hurt my wrist.

そう、手首は wrist ですね。

sprain は、「くじく、ねんざ」ですね。

to twist (a joint, especially the ankle or wrist)

忘れたら、twist と指差しでね。

A: ひどそうね。
大丈夫?

B: ただ、膝をすりむいて、何かで切っただけだよ。

A: It looks terrible.
Are you OK?

B: I just scratched my knee and cut it on something.

scratch は、くじ:スクラッチでおなじみですね。

掻いたり、引っ掻いたり、こすったり、傷をつけたりです。

The cat scratched my hand
ネコが引っかいた

I scratched myself on a rose bush.
バラで引っかいた

You should try not to scratch insect bites.
虫さされは掻かないで

A: 病院に行ったら。

B: 心配しないで。
見た目ほどはひどくないから。

A: You should see a doctor.

B: Please don't worry.
It's not as bad as it looks.

お医者さんに行くのは、

see a doctor

go see a doctor

よく使われますね。

会話では、go や come の後は、いきなり動詞が来る言い方もしますね。

Let's go get a drink.

You'll come see me.

It's not as bad as it looks.

as xxx as xxx という比較の文は

as (形容詞:副詞)

as 文

という2つの文からできていますね。

it is as bad ← それはひどいです

as it looks bad ← それはひどいに見えます

この2つの文を組み合わせて

It's (not) as bad as it looks (bad).
見えると同じくらいひどい(ひどくない)
